Our system requirements are listed below. Please consult the list to insure your system meets the requirements.


Software System Requirements

Minimum requirements for Version 5.1.3 and later are a Pentium II/400 mHz PC running Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 or newer with at least 64 MB of RAM, a DVD drive (for installation and using audio-based testing), and a VGA monitor and display adaptor set to 1024x768 or better resolution with 256 or more colors.


A sound card is also needed for tests that utilize audio, including Audio Transcription and Shorthand, Audio Data Entry and Call Center tests.


Online System Requirements

Screen Resolution

You will need to confirm the screen resolution is set to 1024x768

If you need to change the screen resolution,

1. Right click anywhere on the monitor screen (desktop)

2. Left click on the 'Properties' option

3. Click on the 'Settings' tab<

4. In the 'Screen Resolution' area move the slider one notch to the right so that you see 1024 by 768 pixels

5. Click the "Apply" button then the "OK" button


Configuring Internet Explorer

The vast majority of browsers are already configured correctly to use our web testing system. If our system notifies that the computer isn’t properly configured, please do the following:

1. Make sure that you have Administrator Rights for the computer on which you will be testing. This is Windows PC Administrator Rights, not "Network" login rights.

2. Make sure that you have a recent version of Java installed (1.5). To check for this, click Start/Settings/Control Panel (which needs to be displayed in the Classic view). There should be a Java icon there.

3. Doubleclick to open the Java icon then click the "About" button to have the version displayed. If it is an older version, please go to www.java.com and download a more current one. You will also need to download Java if there is no Java icon displayed on the Control Panel.

4. Close any open browsers. Open a new Internet Explorer browser.

5. Click the "Tools" menu, then click "Internet Options".

6. On the General tab, choose Temporary Internet Files section, then click the "Settings"button. In the "Check for New Versions of Stored Pages" section, select the "Every visit to the page" option. In the "Amount of Disk Space To Use" field set the Value to 1 and then click the "OK" button.

This will take you back to the Internet Options window.

7. In the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click the "Delete Files" button and check the "Delete All Offline Content" box. Then click the "OK" button. This will take you back to the Internet Options window.

8. Click the "Security" tab. Click the "Default Level"’ button then move the slider to "Medium" and click the "Apply" button.

9. Click the "Advanced" tab (at the top of the window) in the lower right corner, click the "Restore Defaults" button and then click the "Appl" and then the "OK" button.


Firewall/ Proxy Server Ports

Your Firewall / Proxy Server will need the following ports open:

HTTP Port (80)

SSL Port (443) and

64.14.82.137 (www.skillcheck.com)

64.14.82.140 (webtest.skillcheck.com)

64.14.82.145 (config.skillcheck.com)

64.14.82.150 (testinggateway.skillcheck.com)

NOTE: It is suggested the following range be open: 64.12.82.137 => 159
